Skirting and Profile Overview

We’re often asked about availability of matching your skirting and profile, and our answer is simple;

Why do you want the skirting to match the floor?

Historically it has been the practice to fit matching skirting and profiles in South Africa. However, today the fashion is certainly catching up with the international design trends, towards the use of contrasting skirting. The concern we have is that when the skirting matches the flooring it makes the whole installation look much more like a sheet plastic, with the flooring wrapped right up the wall!

The picture frame on the wall never matched the picture. Thus in the same way, we believe, a nice floor should have a contrasting frame to set it off properly. There’s little doubt that the more expensive floors almost NEVER have matching skirting, and the current fashion in South Africa is, at last, starting to move away from matching skirting.

However, don’t believe us check out the web site at Houzz.com http://www.houzz.com/laminate-flooring where you will find almost 1,000,000 pictures of laminate flooring to look at. Just check how many you can find with matching skirting!

Recommended Profile and Skirting Availability

We offer a wide range of skirtings and quadrants in the following materials:

  • Variety of solid woods, from local to exotic timbers
  • MDF (Supawood) for paint finishing
  • Expanded PU for waterproof applications

These waterproof skirtings are especially suitable, and highly recommended for use with all of our Parador floors, due to the ability of Parador to withstand and survive even full flood conditions, without replacement, it’s important that the skirting has the same water resistant capability..

In addition to the above we do offer, for those who like it, a matching skirting and profiles for our standard floorLoc™ range.

Recommended Floor and Stair Trims

Where floor trims and stair nose trims are to be used, we strongly recommend the use of anodised aluminum trims, which although a bit more expensive than the older foiled HDF (High density Fibreboard) are much more professional and durable.

We offer a wide range of all of the above as well as many other related tools and accessories.

Having said what we have about skirtings we do offer and generally have available.
